Of Cabbages and Queens

I watched you simper from the corner
of my eye, your salted smile
did look askance at me

Effervescence in your gait did
beguile and plumb the
depths of my doting swain

Balmy days foment beside you
as a glance has me concave at your feet

You've wheeled your bike in, into the pined limelight of my spokes
My lapel's a-bouncing, the blue jays swarm the cow oak

You're a mote in a sunbeam
Oh, I'm a squashed cabbage leaf

You're the flower of the sweet potato
Oh, I'm a cleaved capsicum

You're the lilt of life laded
Oh, I'm a carpet coffee stain

And I know you may say "Bud, don't muddy your heart, and don't do so to court me!"
But, honey, you're still on my mind.

You've wheeled your bike in, into the pined limelight of my spokes
My lapel's a-bouncing, the blue jays swarm the cow oak.
